Founded by left-field folk artist Richard Dawson back in 2012, unusual pop outfit Hen Ogledd have announced the follow up to their 2018 Weird Weird (Domino Records offshoot) release Mogic. Triggered by the arrival of its intriguing lead single 'Trouble' Free Humans is shaping up to be well worth a listen if this track is anything to go by. Pairing breathy flute sounds with chorus-steeped offbeat guitar work, 'Trouble's addictive chorus is delivered with bagfuls of character and enthusiasm as the whole group join in to create rising, folky choir vibes in all the right spots. Veering off for a tasteful harp solo by fellow band founder Rhodri Davies, 'Trouble' is proof of how interesting pop music can be with a little imagination. Free Humans is due out on the 25th of September. -Holly Mullineaux
